Planet:Red Summit showcased the power of many

by Solferino Academy | Oct 28, 2021 | Events

On October 12-14, 2021, we came together as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and organised a global, virtual summit Planet:Red. The focus of this summit was on two of the greatest threats in contemporary times, the climate crisis and pandemics, and also on stepping up the Movement’s local action to drive global impact on the humanitarian dimensions of both.

At the end of the summit, the presidents of IFRC and ICRC launched a joint statement with a focus on the climate crises and the COP26.

Over the Summit’s three days we had over 100 sessions online, including three high-level feature panels each discussing one of the Summit’s main themes, fascinating workshops from our National Societies, the IFRC Secretariat, the ICRC and our Reference Centres, senior leadership only sessions and several keynote speeches by both guest speakers as well as speakers from within the Movement.

We had around 1,000 people joining every day from 176 countries. Recordings of many sessions, such as the official opening, closing, high-level panels and keynotes are available for viewing on the Planet:Red summit platform.

Ahead of the Summit, we also played Code:Red, a digital alternate reality game focusing on the climate crisis. You can read more about Code:Red here (in English).

You can still also view 1) the summit’s thematic guidelines and 2) our session types, technology & tools advice for virtual workshop organisers.
