Spanish Red Cross have opened their Tech Awards to all Red Cross & Red Crescent volunteers and staff around the world who have been creating and deploying innovative technology solutions for their communities and National Societies. 

The Spanish Red Cross Humanitarian Technology Awards are given each year to the best ideas, prototypes or solutions that stand out for their creative and innovative nature in the application of new technologies, for the benefit of humanitarian action and communities. The awards promote the consolidation of an ecosystem of collaboration and knowledge around technological innovation at the service of people. 

In 2022, we helped disseminate and echo the newly created “Red Cross category” of the Awards, open for the first time to the Red Cross & Red Crescent network. We also encouraged our alumni to participate. Following this, Spanish Red Cross has received several ideas and proposals, especially from the Uganda Red Cross Society. The first award of this new category went through the IFRC Solferino Academy, to support National Societies in turning interesting ideas into established solutions.  

The Ceremony was held at the Mobile World Congress (February 27, 2023  to March 2, 2023 in Barcelona, Spain).
