Climate:RED Innovation Competition

Climate:RED Innovation Competition

The Red Cross and Red Crescent will be running Climate:RED, a fully virtual climate change summit on 9 – 10 September 2020.

Climate change affects everyone, everywhere. Therefore, we will hold a summit where no country or person is excluded. This will be a summit with no flights. We will accommodate all time zones, and it will run for 30 consecutive hours, so no one will miss out.

As part of this climate change conference, we are launching a Climate:RED Innovation competition, where staff, volunteers and youth from National Societies around the world will be able to submit innovative ideas for climate initiatives.

The Solferino Academy began convening virtual workshops in Mid-March 2020, connecting people in national societies responding to COVID-19 so they could share insights, experiences and innovations. Two months later, we had run over 10 Virtual Workshops with more than 2,000 people attending (we had one with 700 people!). Our average attendance per virtual workshop was about 150 people. Here’s what we learned along the way.
