Session FAQ

Can I submit a session?

If you are a Red Cross or Red Crescent staff or volunteer, you can express interest in hosting a session. External partners are welcome at the invitation of either the IFRC or a National Society.

When can I submit a session?

Proposals to host a session close on June the 7th, however we are receiving a large volume of proposals so we encourage you to submit early. We will approve some sessions ahead of the deadline.

Can I submit multiple sessions?

Yes, you can. Please make sure your topics and speakers are not duplicated.

How do I submit to host a session?

To submit a session please visit this link to read the background information and required criteria, then click ‘Submit’ to complete the submission form.

How will I be notified about my session submission?

We will confirm receipt of your session submission in two ways:

The Global Innovation Summit Host submission page will have a new message confirming the submission;

We will send you an email. Note that the confirmation email should be received within the hour.

How will Solferino Academy select sessions?

We will select sessions on a rolling basis. This will be done with the GIS Programme committee ( a group of National Society, IFRC and IFRC Solferino Academy staff), See the host guidance to ensure that your session meets our criteria.

I don’t have the details confirmed yet – can I still apply?

We are currently accepting session submissions on a rolling basis. You are welcome to send us completed concept notes as soon as they are ready. You can also join our preparation workshops (see below) offered throughout April and May 2023.

How do I get help from the organisers?

We will offer workshops to help you design, prepare and deliver sessions at the summit throughout April and May. Contact us at [email protected] if you want to attend. The workshop recordings will also be available.

Can I change my session description?

Please contact us at [email protected] for this change.

Will you provide funding for me to host my session?

We are exploring some funding for the event participants. We recommend that session hosts coordinate this with their National Society or Red Cross Red Crescent organisation.
