IFRC Solferino Academy Global Innovation Partners
We are delighted to announce an exciting partnership between the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Monash University Malaysia. This collaboration sets the stage for the establishment of an IFRC Solferino Academy Global Innovation Partnership in Southeast Asia, expanding on the success of IFRC’s partnership with Monash University Australia—which led to the joint youth innovation initiative, Limitless, winning Silver at the 2022 Global Good Awards.
“The challenges facing humanitarian action globally are immense and require collaboration and innovation between sectors, partners and people. Monash University Malaysia is an exciting collaborator for global good, we look forward to working with their staff and students to bring new ideas, approaches and support for our National Societies around the world as they tackle complex and uncertain changes in their communities” said Shaun Hazeldine, Head of the IFRC Solferino Academy.
As part of the IFRC Solferino Academy Global Innovation Partners (GIP) initiative, this partnership will foster a dynamic network of expert practitioners, academics and thought leaders dedicated to driving innovation in the humanitarian sector. By introducing new approaches and fresh thinking, we aim to enhance our ability to respond swiftly to emerging challenges and prepare for an evolving future.
The partnership focuses on three key areas: leadership innovation, humanitarian projects requiring design and technological advancements, and creative engagement through arts, digital, and media initiatives.
Through this collaboration, the IFRC and Monash University Malaysia will conduct cutting-edge research, organise think tanks to challenge conventional approaches and design global projects that support the transformation of the IFRC network.
“As an impact-focused global university, this partnership represents a powerful intersection of academic expertise and humanitarian action. Establishing a dedicated innovation lab at Monash University Malaysia underscores our commitment to producing research-driven, practical solutions that can make a real difference in humanitarian efforts worldwide. We look forward to seeing the transformative impact this partnership will bring.” said Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, President and Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing innovation and leadership in addressing critical global humanitarian challenges.
The IFRC Solferino Academy helps humanitarians find creative solutions to complex challenges.
