What if you had to flee your home? What if the future of your whole family depended on your decisions? What kind of choices would you make?
Join us on a virtual journey through the eyes of refugees on Wednesday, November 24th 12:30-14:00 CET.
For the first half, we will step into the shoes of Ismael, a 21-year old Syrian refugee on a mission to find his brother, and make decisions on his behalf. “Brothers Across Borders” is an innovative and interactive multiple-choice fictional film based on the true stories of Syrian refugees in Turkey. Guided by the Turkish Red Crescent Society, you as a participant will get to choose where Ismael’s journey goes.
During the second half hosted by the German Red Cross, Florance, a refugee from Afghanistan, will show us Berlin – the city she fled to a few years ago. Her journey is a story of constant uncertainty and fear throughout the long travel from Afghanistan, first arrival to Berlin, traumatic deportation and return, life in the confines of church asylum – until eventually finding safety and hope in this city.
This session is organised by the Turkish Red Crescent Society and the German Red Cross, supported by the Solferino Academy, as a part of the RCRC Urban Collab 2021 virtual conference. To join, you have to first register on the conference’s platform. The session will be interpreted from English to Arabic, French and Spanish. Register now in the RCRC Urban Collab 2021 platform, and log in on the 24th before 12:30 CET to take these powerful journeys.
